TOMBSTONE OPEN 2001
KVCC held its' next to last
scheduled golfing event on Sunday, October 21st. The Tombstone
Open, with 27 teams participating, began in a light rain but the
skies cleared after a few holes and it became a pleasant fall day.
Each team, comprised of two members, was allowed a certain number of
strokes based on one-half of their combined handicaps added to par
for 18 holes. When the team reached its' allotted score, they were
done for and had to mark the spot with a tombstone. The trick is,
using an alternate shot format, not killing your partner on the way
around. Getting the treats at the end of the tournament were:
-
1st Place: Trevor
Williams and Larry Williams who reached the second green after
almost 20 holes of play
-
2nd Place: Jim Barnello
and Ron Ramsden
-
3rd Place: Chuck Burgen
and Gary Leaman
-
4th Place: Tom Shaffner
and Jamie Marano
-
5th Place: Jim Lacy Sr.
and Jim Lacy Jr.
A good time was had by all who
participated and the course was quite colorful witht he planted
tombstones, especially on numbers 17, 18 and one.
